On Thursday, September 21st Delta announced a number of new transatlantic routes from their hubs in Atlanta (ATL), Los Angeles (LAX), and New York (JFK).

Atlanta (ATL):
Delta will be adding summer seasonal service from its mega hub in Atlanta to Lisbon, Portugal. The flight will operate on a daily basis from May 24th, 2018 to September 4th, 2018 onboard Boeing 767 aircraft.

Los Angeles:
Delta will add year round 3x weekly flights to Paris (CDG) from its hub in Los Angeles. The flight will commence on June 16th, 2018 aboard the airline’s 777-200LR aircraft with the following schedule:

In addition, Delta will also add 4x weekly year round service to Amsterdam from Los Angeles. The flight will commence on the same date as the LAX-CDG flight (June 16th, 2018) and be operated by the same aircraft type (777-200LR).

New York (JFK):
Delta will add summer seasonal service between New York and Ponta Delgada in the Azores from May 24th, 2018. Although the airline has yet to disclose which aircraft it will utilize on this route, we do know that it will operate 5x weekly. I have reached out to Delta in an effort to find out what aircraft will fly this route, and will update this post if/when they get back to me.

As I wrote back in August, Delta will operate a year round flight between New York and Lagos, Nigeria starting March 24th, 2018. The flight will operate aboard the airlines A330-200 aircraft.

These new routes complement Delta’s previously announced flights between Indianapolis (IND) and Paris (CDG) as well as Orlando (MCO) and Amsterdam (AMS). This is some serious growth for DL’s European route network!
To the Point!
These are some great additions for DL. The transatlantic market just keeps growing at an incredible rate, and these flights should give travelers greater options when looking to travel across the pond. I especially like Delta’s flight to Ponta Delgada, as the airline will be only the second carrier to fly from the small Atlantic island to the United States (Azores Airlines already operates a flight between PDL and Boston).
