Today, Air Canada announced a sizable collection of new routes originating from both Toronto (YYZ) and Montreal (YUL). Remember, I wrote about the airline’s recent announced growth out of Vancouver (YVR). So before you start reading, just realize that (on the route development front) this has been quite an impressive month for Air Canada.

It is important to note that all of these routes will be operated by Air Canada Rouge’s 767-300ER aircraft. The airline outfits this plane in a 3 class configuration consisting of 24 recliner “premium rouge” seats, 36 “rouge plus” seats, and 219 standard economy class seats.

Toronto to Zagreb, Croatia (ZAG):
Starting June 2nd, 2018 Air Canada Rouge will serve the Croatian capital 4x weekly. The route will run through the summer schedule and cease on October 7th.

Toronto to Bucharest, Romania (OTP):
Starting June 9th, 2018 Air Canada Rouge will serve the Romanian capital 2x weekly. The route will operate throughout the summer, with last flight scheduled for October 7th.

Toronto to Porto, Portugal (OPO):
Starting June 8th, 2018 Air Canada Rouge will serve the coastal Portuguese city 4x weekly. The route will run a bit longer than the previous two announced from YYZ, with last flight from Porto scheduled for October 27th.

Montreal to Bucharest, Romania (OTP):
Starting June 7th, 2018 Air Canada Rouge will serve Bucharest 2x weekly. The route will end on October 5th, 2 days before its sister flight YYZ-OTP ceases operation.

Montreal to Lisbon (LIS):
Starting June 15th, 2018 Air Canada Rouge will serve the Portuguese capital 3x weekly. It will run through the summer season, with last flight from Lisbon scheduled for October 27th (same date as YYZ-OPO route).

In addition, Air Canada will convert its Toronto (YYZ)-Buenos Aires (EZE) service to non-stop and year round, instead of 1 stop via Santiago. The route will be operated by the airline’s new 787-9 aircraft.

To the Point!
Impressive! We have seen some enormous growth from Air Canada over the past few months. What I find most remarkable is that they are not just focusing on a single hub. Rather, the airline has grown all three of their hubs (Vancouver, Toronto, and Montreal) simultaneously.
Whether it be the recently announced transatlantic routes out of Vancouver, the new service between Montreal and Tokyo, or today’s plethora of European routes out of Toronto; A.C. is really stepping up its network.
